The best overall whey protein powder
When Naked Nutrition calls their Whey Protein Naked Additive Free, that means this protein powder literally has only one ingredient: whey protein derived from grass-fed cows.
Benefits: Contains only whey protein from grass-fed cows, low carbohydrates and fat per serving, contains 5.9 grams of BCAAs per serving
The inconvenients: Not completely devoid of sugar (although there are no sweeteners or artificial flavors), difficult to mix, and can sometimes be lumpy
Many Naked Nutrition products live up to the brand’s namesake of literally being naked, although none do as well as its flagship protein powder, Naked Whey. Composed of a single ingredient (whey protein from grass-fed cows), Naked Whey is a clean, additive-free product that contains no artificial sweeteners, artificial colors, or artificial flavors.
From a protein standpoint, one serving of Naked Whey (2 scoops of powder or about 30 grams) provides 25 grams of protein, 3 grams of carbohydrate, 2 grams of fat, 120 calories and just 2 grams of sugar. Each serving also contains 5.9 grams of a combination of the BCAAs isoleucine, leucine and valine. BCAAs (branched chain amino acids) can help build protein in muscles and helps recovery.
A few downsides (or rather nitpicks) would be that Naked Whey isn’t the easiest to mix, and quite requires the shake in a shaker to create a smooth, drinkable combination, though you’ll likely still encounter a few. . tufts. The taste of this one is also very simple and almost milk-like (which makes sense, of course), but Naked offers the protein in the chocolate, as well as the vanilla and strawberry in its less Naked. Whey, which contains a few additional additives.
Naked Whey is available in a 5lb jar for $ 90 or a smaller 1lb option for $ 22 – and Naked Nutrition even allows customers to set up recurring monthly deliveries at a discounted rate.
If you’re looking for an additive-free protein powder, Naked Whey from Naked Nutrition, with just one whey protein ingredient, is about as simple and straightforward as it gets. – Rick Stella, Health and Fitness Writer
