Previously, Disney products were only available in the Disney Store. But in recent years, Disney has collaborated with brands ranging from Primark to Harrods and everything in between.
But now fans of Mickey and Minnie, Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar and everything in between can infuse their homes with a little Walt magic more easily than ever, with the global giant launching a new brand of interiors called Disney Home.
Work with a wide range of licensees and retailers, including big names like Next, Wayfair, home base, Selfridges and Amazon, Disney Home includes products for all major franchises, cartoons and characters. Products in the launch range include bed linen, cushions, shelves, rugs, wallpaper, artwork and more – whether you want something bright, cheerful and full of great characters for children’s bedrooms or a more subtle piece hidden in plain sight in the living room.
Disney’s Liz Shortreed said she hoped the range would help put “the fun into functionality”. She added, “Disney Home offers families, fans and interior enthusiasts the opportunity to bring a little magic into their homes.”
With some of the new product lines hitting shelves today, we’ve taken a look at the first wave of products aimed at giving your home some Disney magic.
Mickey Mouse Shelves
These shelves are available at Wayfair or in store at Next for £39.99. They’re the perfect classic Mickey nod for a playroom or a quirky storage addition to a home office or even a kitchen – we think they’d be ideal for storing spices.
Disney-themed Ruggable rugs have been on many people’s wishlists since they were launched in the US shortly before the pandemic, with Mouse fans discussing tactics on Facebook groups to buy them while on vacation in America and bring them home. They are now finally available in the UK and, in addition to the Millennium Falcon themed one, there is a host of others based on classic Disney properties, including Marvel and Mickey himself.
Pricing for the mat starts at £99. The rugs come in two parts, a non-slip underpad and then the themed top. This makes them fully machine washable which is great if you have kids or pets, but also means that if you want to give a room a makeover you can simply buy a new top rather than pay to replace the rug. complete. The rugs are also perfect for homes where you want to have a subtle little nod to Disney without being too full – this pretty Persian style carpet could sit in any living room without guests noticing there were hidden Mickeys unless they looked very closely.
Another more subtle example is this blue wallpaper, one of a range at Homebase and available now at £17 a roll. For non-Pixar fans, it’s just a happy cloud print, but for Woody and Buzz fans everywhere, it’s identical to their beloved owner Andy’s bedroom.
It is just one of a range of Disney wallpaper options published by Disney home and available and various DIY stores and wallpaper stores, including Winnie the Pooh and a pastel pink princess print.
Figures Leblon Delienne
One of the most high-profile collaborations in Disney Home’s launch lineup is with Leblon Delinne, sculptors beloved by pop culture-loving art collectors. Designed by Marcel Wanders, that iconic Mickey is an ideal feature piece to display on a side table or mantel, but will set you back £200. This is a selection of different styles available from Selfridges including limited collectors’ editions of up to big £2,000 for a room co-designed by interior designer Kelly Hoppen.
Disney Home is now available at retailers nationwide.
