Lidl’s production of Vemondo Vegan Crabcakes Mini Crabcakes was halted after a packaging error created a food allergy issue and a nine-state recall was announced Tuesday afternoon.
Manufacturer Cuisine Innovations Unlimited claims that the oxymoron of a snack contains egg yolk, but the packaging does not mention the egg as an allergen or ingredient.
In addition to violating the âveganâ label on the packaging, eggs can be dangerous for allergy sufferers. “People with allergies to eggs are at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,” says the recall notice written by the company and published by the FDA.
