Michelin-trained Athlone chocolatiers to showcase their work in RDS

Daniel Linehan and Georgia Quealy of Bon Chocolatiers.

A pair of classically trained Athlone chefs, who have received masterclasses from world chocolate master Vincent Valeé, will be showcased at Gifted, the contemporary craft and design fair, at the RDS from 30 November to 4 December.

Couple-turned-business partners Georgia Quealy and Daniel Linehan have worked in some of Ireland’s finest restaurants, including Michelin-starred Campagne in Kilkenny and Michelin-starred Bib Gourmand Thyme in Athlone.

They then put their talent at the service of the creation of Bon Chocolatiers.

In 2020, Daniel spent three months studying under famed pastry chef Amaury Guichon in Las Vegas, but the couple returned to Athlone during the Covid-19 lockdown.

In seven months, Bon Chocolatiers has transformed into a full-time business with its own production unit and was recently awarded the Food and Wine 2022 Emerging Producer Award.

Business partners pay close attention to every detail of their product, right down to hand-searching many ingredients.

“Bon Chocolatiers is all about the chocolate experience, even down to the brushstrokes in our artwork,” Daniel said.

“We want people to be delighted to receive our chocolates as a gift, even before tasting them.”

The brand’s artistry is a feast for the eyes, and while they play with texture and incorporate some interesting ingredients, Daniel explained that their flavors remain familiar from the start.

“Favorites are favorites for a reason,” he said.

Home to over 100 artisan food producers, Gifted promises a selection of flavors that will tickle the taste buds of any foodie this Christmas.

“At Gifted, we’re celebrating Christmas with the nation’s largest collection of thoughtful, enduring gifts for your loved ones,” said organizer Patrick O’Sullivan.

“The fair is a unique opportunity to interact with the most creative people in Ireland and discover thousands of original products, available only from Gifted.

“The Fair is a huge boost for the independent creative sector, it is vital for the industry as a whole and it is estimated to generate enough business to keep many exhibitors busy for at least four months of the year. .”

A 10% discount applies to everything at Gifted on opening day, Wednesday, November 30. Further details and bookings can be found at www.giftedfair.ie.

The contemporary craft and design fair will take place at the RDS in Dublin from Wednesday 30 November to Sunday 4 December.
