After about two years in business, black-owned vegan restaurant The Black Vegan is opening its first brick-and-mortar restaurant. The grand opening will take place on June 12, from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., and will feature a one-day discount menu at just $ 10 to give away to all loyal customers – what the restaurant calls family – as well as new customers the opportunity to try on as many small items as they want at an affordable price.
“We are proud to have a new home in [Chicago’s] Small village where the owner [Sparkle Le’Star Rucker] has more than four generations of family. The community will always be the first and we’re so happy to start sharing it on a larger scale, ”the Black Vegan team told VegOut.
The Black Vegan offers plant-based versions of comfort food classics, such as vegan shrimp gyros, vegan shrimp burgers, vegan barbecue ribs, vegan portabella wings with fries, vegan portabella gyros and a vegan cheesecake and an apple pie for dessert. Plus, the opening menu features savory bites like loaded fries, fried pickles, and strawberry cheesecake for the sweet tooth.
The Black Vegan is located at 2300 S Kedzie Ave Chicago, IL 60623. Guests can choose to dine on site, pick up, or order their food for delivery. The restaurant will sell food until it is full, so customers are encouraged to place their orders in advance through the restaurant’s Instagram (@theblackveganchi) or on The Black Vegan website, BoutiqueBlackVegan.com.
The Black Vegan is a proud sponsor of Earth’s Energy, a black-owned health and wellness website that offers freshly made organic juices for delivery, pickup, and shipping. Those interested in supporting Earth’s Energy can check them out on Instagram (@ lands_energy18) or to TerresÉnergie18.com.
