Pacific Ethanol, a leading producer and distributor of low-carbon renewable fuels and high-quality alcoholic products in the United States, has announced its executive succession plan.
The board has appointed Mike Kandris as co-chair and co-CEO. Neil Koehler retires on September 30.
The company also announced that it is focusing more on producing high-quality alcohol.
Pacific Ethanol Co-Founder and Chairman Bill Jones said, “The demand for high-quality alcohol, the main ingredient in hand sanitizers and sanitizers, has increased dramatically since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“These facilities are part of our strategy to diversify into high quality alcohol, yeast and other high protein products and are working well. We are confident that Mike will advance other initiatives and lead the next phase of our diversified strategy. “
Kandris added, “Our talented and committed team acted quickly to increase high quality production capacity in Beijing. A combination of factors, including lender support and PPP funding, has provided us with the financial means and the time to increase sales and negotiate high quality alcohol futures with high contribution margins. As a result, we expect a strong financial performance in Beijing, which should translate into positive EBITDA for the Company for the second quarter and full year 2020. “
Koehler commented, “With our focus on producing high quality alcohol, now is the right time for a transition. I am delighted to be working with Mike and the entire Pacific Ethanol team to support this new trajectory. I will also continue to champion the economic, carbon, octane and health benefits of ethanol in my role as President of the Renewable Fuels Association.
